Titans Futbol Club Hire new full-time Goalkeeping Director, Warren Van Der Westhuizen

Dallas, TX – August 22, 2019 - Titans Futbol Club is pleased to announce the hiring of a new full-time Goalkeeping Director, Warren Van Der Westhuizen. Warren will start goalkeeping training September 1st for all NTX Titans teams and Sting and Titans Academy teams.

Warren Van Der Westhuizen is currently the assistant Coach & Goalkeeper Coach for the Semi Pro team the Denton Diablos. He also holds a USSF A License, National Youth License & NSCAA Goalkeeping License.

Van Der Westhuizen brings a wealth of professional coaching and playing experience from his time in South Africa with Morocco Swallow, Real Rovers and Wits University and also in the USA with the Atlanta Silverbacks, West Michigan Edge and Des Moines Menace of the PDL.

He also spent many years coaching collegiately working with Division 1, Georgia State where their goalkeepers had the lowest goals against average and least goals allowed in Georgia State history. He was also the Division 2 Clayton State Assistant Coach and GK coach for 6 years in Atlanta, Georgia. Warren Van Der Westhuizen also helped Lynn University get to the finals of the NCAA Division 2 Championship in 2016.

In terms of his playing career, Warren was one of the better players in the history of Clayton State University. Warren went 48-19-6 with 0.71 goals against average and 37 shutouts in four seasons.

He anchored the program’s first two NCAA Division II Sweet 16 teams in 2000 (18-3-1) and 2001 (11-4-5) and led the Lakers to the first championship in program history, claiming the 2000 Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship. During his college career he tied for the third most shutouts in NCAA Division II history with 14 shutouts, trailing the all-time mark of 16 set in 1986. He currently owns four career marks, including first place in minutes (6,840), goals against average (.643) and shutouts (37).

Between Warren’s extensive playing career collegiately and professionally, he has also coached at all levels of play over time and some of the highest levels of goalkeepers nationwide. His background and experience along with a leading-edge goalkeeping curriculum will help propel Titans goalkeepers to the next level.
