4. OVERVIEW

Our GK program is in place to support the learning and development of all our Goalkeepers, we pride ourselves on a curriculum that incorporates our core techniques and values through a 4 corner model. 1.Technical 2.Tactical 3.Physical 4.Mental/social

The goalkeeper program that supports the Clubs style of play is based around five core techniques:

•  1V1’s

•   Dealing with the cross

•   Shot stoping , Diving and Handling

•   Distribution (feet and hands )

•   Positioning

5. OUR PLAYING STYLE

“The Ball belongs to us “We must strive to dictate the game by having possession of the ball, we are positive in possession with a NO fear mentality, all our players are Brave and Bold and will look to express themselves in a creative way.  We always play with a positive mindset with high demand on work rate. Our GK is an attacking player when we have the ball and must look to play as a sweeper GK, we encourage to play back to the GK so there is an exception on them to be in good starting positions. The new Goal Kick rue brings in a new way of our keepers restarting games in a positive way to play through the 3rds.

We will always demonstrate a desire to press and win the ball back in advanced positions to allow better success in creating chances to score goals.

THE PROGRAM

Our GK program provides each player with the following over a 6 week period.

1. Position Specific (PS) Training

GK’S will be split into four technical training groups according to age and ability. These groups are as follows: Basic (U7-U10), Beginner (U11-U12), Intermediate (U13-U14) and Advanced (15-18 ). Multiple technical training sessions will be provided for each of these age groups over a 5 week period.

2. Team Training

Week 6 Our GK Staff are then responsible to take part in team training sessions to provide both technical and tactical instruction within the team practice environment. They will work with the lead coaches to make sure that the correct terminology is being used and that the Development goals are being met, this will also be a review period, so our Staff will provide detailed content back to the club and will also evaluate all GK’s through a self reflection process.

3. Match Training

Our head of Goalkeeping will help with proper goalkeeper warm ups as well as pre-game, halftime and post game analysis with a focus on game management. Our GK warm ups, cool downs and match day experience must be consistent.
